Had the week from H-E-Double Toothpicks with our phone system at work, so Bonnie & I took ourselves off for a relaxing day of shopping and dining in Paxico & Maple Hill..
Now that the kitties are not self-regulating their food consumption and Elmo is on a special diet I can finally get the tres cool pet food dishes that http://www.jepsonstudios.com/(Jepson Pottery) makes. I bought a collection of them for my mom's kitties last Christmas. I also found mom's Christmas present for this year but for obvious reasons I am not posting the pictures that I took of it. No peeking Mom! There was a huge auction going on in Paxico because the lady who runs Mainstreet Antiques is retiring. I guess the kids all have their own careers so there is no one for her to pass it on to. She has a pretty nice collection spread over two full storefonts in Paxico and starting Saturday it all went on the block. It was so strange to be going through the shops and find signs here and there from the store owners saying they were over at the auction for a few minutes and if you could just wait until they returned to make your purchase or come over to the auction and holler for <insert store owner's name here>.
Since The Electric Cat closed down (it's now a Christmas decoration store) we had no choice but to slog out to Maple Hill and dine at http://www.puffyssteakhouse.com/puffys/index.htm(Puffy's Steak and Icehouse). I always order the ribs there. They are so tender that I could eat them if I had no teeth. But today I didn't order the ribs. It's a steak house. I ordered the sirloin. Rare. Excellent cut of meat, cooked to perfection. I brought half of it home to finish up later.
