The days when it was just us and 85 acres are definitely gone. The dogs had just gotten to used to having the world to themselves and ended up causing some trouble in the neighborhood. It was our fault. We should have seen it coming and taken steps to prevent it.
For almost two months now we've had to take them out on leashes only until we could get a fence built. It's taken that long for a variety of reasons. First, the work ethic motto here in Kansas seems to be "When I get to it." Second it was winter when the incident occurred and the ground was still frozen. Third, see item 1, the Kansas work ethic motto.
So while the dogs were unable to patrol the world, these little bahstads, these minions of Satan crept closer and closer to the house. This particular one is completely unconcerned with my presence.
